TASK: Operate Night Vision Goggles AN/PVS 7B

TEST CONDITIONS: Given AN/PVS 7B in its carrying case, complete with batteries.

TEST STANDARDS: Place the AN/PVS 7B into operation within five minutes.

TECHNICAL MANUAL CROSSWALK: This task is the same as task number 071 710 0008. TM 11 5855 262 10 2 provides instructions on the operation of this equipment.

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED FOR POINT: Field table, night vision goggles (AN/PVS 7B), and FB Form 20 38.1 R.

SITE SETUP: At the test site, provide all equipment and materials listed in task conditions statement. Have the candidate perform the task in an outside or field environment that is free of lights. Provide goggles in their carrying case to the candidate.

INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES: Say to the candidates–

“Let me have your attention. At this point you will be required to place the AN/PVS-7B night vision goggles into operation. You will–

1. Perform preoperational checks.

2. Operate the goggles (head mounted mode).

3. Shut down and store the goggles.

“You must perform this task within five minutes. Do you understand what you must do?”

If anyone has questions, repeat the instructions but do not elaborate on what you have read.

Pause five seconds and then say–

“BEGIN.”

Allow the candidate to proceed for five minutes and then say–

“STOP”
