Colleges in Alaska

Despite having the third lowest population of any U.S. state, the wild state of Alaska is home to eight different military installations, including the Army installations of Fort Wainwright, Fort Richardson and Fort Greely. Alaska is separated from the major continuous 48 states of the Continental United States by a large portion of Canada.

Weather in Alaska can range from the mild oceanic climates in the south to the long, extremely cold winters that are common in the north. If you enjoy the outdoors, Alaska is for you, with vast stretches of untamed wilderness. Nevertheless, the state is home to several universities, including the University of Alaska campuses at Anchorage, Fairbanks and Juneau, among others. The culture of Alaska is still very strong in its Native American population. Alaska's northerly location makes it the best place in the United States to witness the natural spectacle of the northern lights.
