Beautiful Maine is home to around 1.3 million residents. Its largest city, Portland, has a population of around 63,000. Maine boasts having one of the most pleasant summer climates in all of the United States and offers the four seasons to its residents. Enjoyable weather and gorgeous landscape make it easy to spend time outdoors in Maine. With 14 million acres of forest and 11,100 lakes, rivers, ponds and streams, Maine is a nature lovers paradise. Popular outdoor activities in Maine include: ATV riding, fishing, cross country skiing, golfing, hunting, whitewater rafting, canoeing and kayaking. Maine is also known for its over 60 picture perfect lighthouses, which are popular tourist destinations.
