Schools in New Jersey Near Fort Dix

Fort Dix has long been a mobilization center and training facility for the National Guard and Army Reserve prior to deployment into areas of conflict. Soldiers from these units serve proudly around the world.

There are several Fort Dix colleges in the area that active military personnel and their families can attend. Degree work can be accomplished at Fort Dix colleges at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Financial assistance and career and educational counseling are available.

Of special interest on this base is the "Ultimate Weapon" monument created by PFC Stuart Scherr and Specialist 4 Steven Goodman in 1957. The tabletop clay model of an American soldier was soon fashioned into a 25-foot tall statute that includes an infantryman. The purpose of this now famous monument is to symbolize the importance of the individual combat soldier.
