Station D – BASIC INDIVIDUAL TECHNIQUES – Point D-2

TASK: Move under direct fire.

TEST CONDITIONS: Given a tactical situation where you must approach an enemy position from a distance of 250 meters across varied terrain. Candidate is in EIB uniform.

TEST STANDARDS: Move 50 meters toward the objective within five minutes using the low crawl, the high crawl, and the rush.

SOLDIER’S MANUAL CROSSWALK: This task is based on task number STP 21-1-SMCT task 071-326-0502 except that the candidate need only move 50 meters toward the enemy positions within five minutes from a covered and concealed starting position. For the purpose of the EIB test, the following standards apply:

1. The candidate must correctly perform the three basic movement techniques (the low crawl, the high crawl, and the rush) as outlined in STP 21-1-SMCT.

2. The candidate must use the low crawl, high crawl, and rush movement technique at least once, but may use any of the techniques more than once. However, each time a movement technique is used it must be performed to standard.

NOTE: During the test, if the candidate is hit by fire he must complete the course. He will not receive a NO GO. The candidate will receive a GO after performing all three movement techniques to standard, moving the entire 50 meters, and completing the task in five minutes.

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED FOR POINT: M16 series rifle, M4 carbine magazine, blank ammunition, blank adapter, stopwatch, clipboard, field table, pencil or ballpoint pen, MILES equipment, and FB Form 20-13.2-R.

SITE SETUP: Provide a 20-meter wide lane and adequate cover and concealment for an individual to use proper movement techniques. Position a sniper and defensive bunker 250 meters away from starting point.

INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES: Say to the candidates–

“Let me have your attention. At this point you must perform all three movement techniques toward a defensive position 250 meters away (scorer points out the defensive position). You must move 50 meters within five minutes. If you use any of the three movement techniques more than once, the movement technique must be preformed to standard”

“Do you understand what you must do?”

If anyone has questions, repeat the instructions but do not elaborate on what you have read.

Pause five seconds and then say–

“BEGIN.”

Allow the candidate to proceed for five minutes and then say–

“STOP”
