Colleges in Utah

Utah has five national parks and a dozen other National Park Service sites. Golden Spike National Historic Site marks the spot where Union and Central Pacific Railroads met at Promontory Summit in 1869, and the Hovenweep National Monument preserves pre-historic native villages. Glen Canyon National Recreation Area covers over 1.2 million acres of backcountry.

Dugway Proving Ground is a U.S. Army testing range in the west-central area. Its prime mission is to support the country's chemical and biological defense.

The Great Salt Lake is the largest saltwater lake in the Western Hemisphere, and a site for all types of water sports. On its shores, Salt Lake City is a center for skiing and other snow sports. Utah's Mormon heritage is seen in Great Temple Square and The Family History Library of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints--the largest genealogical library in the world, with millions of records.
