Colleges in South Carolina

South Carolina is home to delightful Atlantic beaches, coastal plains and islands to the east, interior midlands, and the Blue Ridge Region in the west. With ports, bays, and rivers, the state offers an abundance of outdoor recreational activities including fishing, boating, golfing, and beach-combing. The summers are hot and humid, averaging a high of 93 degrees, while the winters are mild, except for the mountains, where snow is common. The cities and tourist destinations of Columbia, Charleston, Hilton Head Island, and Myrtle Beach offer dining, fine arts, music, and nightlife. The Army maintains a combat training facility at Fort Jackson.

Army and military colleges in South Carolina make up part of the diverse educational system. The Citadel is one of the nation's best known military undergraduate and graduate schools. There are also large state-run colleges and universities, community colleges, and trade/technical schools.
