Colleges in Rhode Island

In terms of land area, Rhode Island is the smallest state in the union with just 1,045 square miles. Winters are cold and snowy averaging 20 degrees in January, and summers are hot and muggy, with August temperatures in the high 80s. With 400 miles of coastline, there's plenty to do outdoors when you're not in class. There are more than 100 beaches, plenty of scenic parks and islands offering boating, fishing, hunting, hiking and rafting, more than 40 golf courses, and a hectic nightlife scene in Providence and Newport.

There are 14 colleges and universities open to Army personnel and dependents, including nine universities, two associate colleges with nine locations, and The Naval War College at Newport. There are technical, vocational, and religious colleges within the state, as well as an Ivy League school, Providence's Brown University.
