Colleges in Louisiana

The state of Louisiana is widely known for its largest city, New Orleans, where visitors find a highly energetic nightlife on Bourbon Street and the French Quarter. The liveliness of New Orleans, however, is far from the only thing Louisiana has to offer. Rich in culture and diversity, visitors are sure to enjoy the uniqueness of the food, music, historical sites and museums in Louisiana.

Louisiana's climate is considered to be humid subtropic and weather is influenced by nearby Gulf of Mexico. Winters are short in Louisiana and typically mild and summers are longer and often hot and humid.

With a strong military community, Louisiana is home to U.S. Army base and Combat Training Center Fort Polk. It's located in the west-central region of the state, about 45 miles for Alexandria and 250 miles from New Orleans. Several Louisiana schools, including Southeastern Louisiana University and Tulane University of Louisiana, were included in GI Jobs Magazine's list of military friendly schools.
