Colleges in Iowa

Iowa, commonly called "America's Heartland," is located in the Midwest. Its largest city, Des Monies, is also its capital city and is home to about 41,000 residents. The state of Iowa takes pride in its history and the role it has had in shaping our country. The state 24 National Historic Landmarks spread across all regions of the state and ready to welcome history buffs and visitors. Other popular recreational activities include biking, golfing, hiking trails, and visiting art galleries and theme parks. The climate in the region tends to have cold winters with snowfalls and warm summers with average temperatures around 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

Iowa is the home to Camp Dodge, located in Johnston, IA, which is a helpful resource for members of the National Guard. There is more good news for military personnel thinking of relocating to Iowa. Several Iowa colleges, like the University of Iowa and University of Northern Iowa, landed on GI Jobs Magazine's list of Military Friendly Schools in 2010.
