Colleges in Idaho

Idaho, or the Gem State, was nicknamed for the unique gems it produces. Mountains and farmland dominate its landscape, but visitors can also find gorgeous peaks, rolling hillsides and plains, and sparkling blue lakes. Idaho's weather is impacted by the Pacific Ocean and can vary depending on the region. Idaho is the 13th largest state in the U.S., with Boise being its largest city, having a population of around 200,000.

Idaho residents and visitors enjoy a wide range of recreational activities, many that involve nature and the outdoors. Horseback riding, biking, snowshoeing, hiking, boating, snowmobiling, and skiing are among the most popular leisure activities in Idaho.

While there are no Army bases in Idaho, the Mountain Home Air Force Base is located 45 minutes from Boise, and contributes to making Idaho a military friendly state. Several Idaho schools make it a priority to recruit students who have military experience. These schools, including Idaho State University and Boise State University, work hard to make certain that these students feel welcome and supported in their state.
