Schools in South Carolina Near Fort Jackson

As the U.S. Army's largest Initial Entry Training Center, Fort Jackson trains half of all men and women entering the Army each year. With more than 3,900 active duty soldiers and their family members at any given point, the base is an epicenter of military life and community support.

The nearest city is Columbia, SC, which is located in the center of the state and is home to mild weather and plenty of outdoor activities. Fishing and hunting, camping, and year-round golf, are all local pastimes and many of which are also available on the base through Fort Jackson's Morale, Welfare, and Recreation department. There are also several theaters and museums, and Columbia boasts the renowned Riverbanks Zoo and Botanical Garden.
