Schools in Arkansas Near Fort Greely

Being stationed at Fort Greely is an education in itself. This is the home of the Cold Regions Test Center (CRTC). The post is on the western edge of the "cold triangle" and in one of the coldest areas of Alaska. The installation is the home of the U.S. Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) system which is part of the layered missile defense system defending the continental U.S. and other free nations. The base is five miles south of Delta Junction off Richardson Highway.

Outdoor activities are for the stout of heart. Cross-country skiing, hunting and hiking are a challenge under the sometimes extreme local weather conditions. Active Army personnel take advantage of the studies available at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks in Delta Junction. The military educational benefits make a Fort Greely education possible for both active duty personnel and their dependents. Getting an education is one of the best ways to prepare for promotions or get ready for re-entry back into civilian life.
