Schools in Virginia Near Fort Belvoir

Fort Belvoir functions more like its own city than an Army base due to the sheer number of people who call it home, including:

  • 8 elements of the U.S. Army Reserve and Army National Guard
  • 9 Department of Defense agencies
  • 16 agencies of the Department of the Army
  • Units and agencies of nine different Army major commands

Because of this, you can find academic institutions, public parks, and even a 1,450 acre wildlife refuge without ever stepping off the base. Education opportunities are available for both adults and children of all ages. Near the base, you can also find several colleges including Georgetown, the University of Virginia, and the College of William and Mary. If you do want entertainment away from Fort Belvoir, you have the city of Alexandria, Virginia at your doorstep. With a 250 year history and a promising present, Alexandria has something for everyone.
