Colleges in Arkansas

Arkansas, home to the Pine Bluff Arsenal, is a warm and often humid state packed with rich river valleys, well-known cave networks, and historical and archaeological sites. Weather can tend toward extremes for the region, with quick changes of weather, powerful thunderstorms and even tornadoes. Although there are no other Army installations in the state (except a MEPS in Little Rock), there is an Air Force Base located in the capital at Little Rock.

Arkansas schools are numerous, including Arkansas State University campuses at Jonesboro and Mountain Home, and campuses of the University of Arkansas in seven different cities, including Little Rock, Fayetteville, Fort Smith, Monticello and Pine Bluff. For those who enjoy the wilderness, Arkansas has many protected wilderness areas where the land is kept as free of civilization as possible, and history buffs can visit the Arkansas stretch of the Trail of Tears National Historic Trail or go caving in the famous Blanchard Springs Caverns.
