Schools in Alabama Near Anniston Army Depot
This Army base encompasses thousands of acres of woodland, streams, and lakes. Its location at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains creates this stunning scenery. Yet from this rural oasis you can easily escape into the bustling cities of Birmingham, Alabama, and Atlanta, Georgia. The Anniston Army Depot has the nickname "The Tank Rebuild Center of the World," although today its employees work on far more than just tanks.
The School Liaison Services Program and the Child, Youth and School Services Division work together on the base to help military children transition into new schools and to assist in communication between families at the base and the local school districts. Adults have easy access to the Gadsden State Community College, which offers a variety of education opportunities in fields ranging from agriculture to computer science, cosmetology, registered nursing, and electrical engineering.
