You can look it up yourself by going to the <a href="http://www.defensetravel.dod.mil/site/bahCalc.cfm" rel="nofollow">BAH Calculator</a>. Enter in the zip code and select the Pay Grade of E-5 from the drop down menu. Use the figure from the E-5 with dependents as how much you would get. Also keep in mind that amount is for a full-time student. If less than full-time, then you would have to prorate it according to the number of credits taken.

However for those who don't know the zip code for Dallas, the housing allowance amount comes out to $1,611 per month.

To make a transfer request, just go to the milConnect website and follow the Transfer of Benefits Section. Once your transfer is approved, look for the status to change from "Transfer Pending" to "Transfer Approved", then your son will have to request his Certificate of Eligibility once he is ready to go to school. He can get his certificate by submitting VA form 22-1990e from the eBenefits website.

Yes you will. How much you would get is calculated based on the zip code of your school and the number of credits you are taking. Because you are taking enough to be considered full-time, then you would get the full amount paid at the E-5 with dependents pay grade.

First off, you will not get BAH. Instead you would get the Post 9/11 GI Bill Monthly Housing Allowance. How much you get per month varies according to where you go to school and how many credits you are taking. It is calculated based on the zip code of your school and credits. Just be aware that if you are taking all your classes online, then the most you can get in MHA is $647.50 per month. Take one class on campus along with your online classes and you can get more in MHA because you would fall under the zip code/credit formula instead of the online-only one. Depending on your school zip code and credits you take, it can sometimes be as much as doubled the online-only amount.

Well said Shelley. If a person wants it bad enough s/he will find a way. Be sure to think outside the box and be inventive in how you generate money to pay for college. An as you said Shelley, every little bit helps. The $12.00 your son earned being a referee, was $12.00 less he had to come up with. The effect is cumulative if you work the system.
