  • Discuss the requirement/techniques to counsel and mentor subordinates
  • Discuss the rating chain/counselor’s support form
  • Discuss leader philosophy, command climate and team building responsibilities
  • Discuss expectations in job performance and military bearing
  • Discuss interaction/relationship with CSM/higher staffs/company XOs
  • Set/discuss level of authority, specific responsibility and personal accountability
  • Discuss METL and Your assessment
  • Review training plan, deployments and other readiness issues
  • Discuss logistics/admin/budget responsibilities and accountability
  • Discuss command policies, standards and SOPs
  • Discuss personal, educational and organizational goals

  • Set time/date for next counseling
  • Based upon the agreed Plan of Action indentify and fullfill your leader responsibilities to insure the proper development of the subordinate
